Upstairs is…well…Upstairs :p. Located on the top floor of the Everest Building on Tardeo , Upstairs is a brand new and much needed addition to the barren nightlife between Colaba and Bandra.
The thing I loved about Upstairs is the very Arabic and Middle Eastern vibe it has to it! It is one of those places with colourful fabrics everywhere which make u believe that you are somewhere exotic!
When I had dropped into Upstairs for their launch, their food was very average and I was thus, quite sceptical about trying it out again! But trust me when I say that I am so lad that I did!! The food quality, taste and presentation has improved by miles since their launch and it is safe to say that this is one of the better “oriental food” places in the city!
The food served at upstairs is mainly Asian with food from over 15 Asian countries on offer!
My favourites of the lot were the the Salt and pepper Prawns, the Mountain Chicken Chilli and the Chicken Basil Bao.
The Prawns Tempura, though crispy and fresh needed a little seasoning to it.
The best dish of the night though, was the delicious Banana Leaf wrapped Basa! The fish was delicately steamed to perfection and was marinated extremely well. Everything about it, from its look to its aroma and eventually its taste was just divine!
The Chilli Garlic Noodles and the Sayur Curry are absolutely beautiful and authentic and are the must haves in the mains.
The desserts that we tried were in total contrast to each other. The Tiramisu was creamy and rich, but a little too heavy for me whereas their version of the Tum Tim Grob (I don’t remember its name!) was icy, light and an absolute delight to have!
They have some amazing cocktails and some great collection of beers and wines which make sure that you will have a good time here! It also offers you a drinks experience like never before! In addition to their unique signature cocktails and shots, every straight drink you order is cheaper than the previous, with the fourth one free!
All in all, I was really happy with the whole experience I had at Upstairs and a big thumbs up to them for improving by such leaps since their launch.
