Modern Indian at Turban Tales!

When is the last time you had some fabulous and soulful Indian food at a restaurant with a good ambiance, great music and amazing cocktails?! No idea right? Well now you can get idea by visiting the newly opened Turban Tales in Powai! The best part- all the stuff here is extremely well priced!

Very few Indian only food places in Mumbai are known for their cocktails. This one surely rules the roost!

The theme of Turban Tales can be classified as a Dhaba themed place serving some delicious modern Indian food at rates better there anywhere you can imagine!

As I said earlier, the drinks and the cocktails here are amazing! Ther are global with a touch of some comforting Indianness to it! Start with some creamy Lassi (which you have to try) and ease into some of their refreshing cocktails!

The Amarsar to Thailand, the Love From South Hall and the Smoke of Love were my favorites!

The appetizers that you must have are the Tikka Supreme which is a soft chicken tikka exterior with a gooey cheesy middle!

The Reshmi Soy Chaap is amazing too and is a perfect appetizer for the vegetarians who are tired of Paneer and Mushroom in everything!

For those who love Mushrooms, go for the delicious and creamy – Mushroom Cheese.

The Tandoori Chicken Momos is a fab take on the classic favorite – Momos and the Prawns Koliwada  is the perfect companion for your cocktails or drinks!

The best dish I tried here was ironically – Vegetarian! The Sarson Da Saag with the absolutely amazing Makke Di Roti Tartlets! Trust me, vegetarian or non vegetarian, you must not leave without trying this dish here!

One appetizer I didn’t enjoy as much was the Lamb Roti Kebab. Though the taste was delicious, the lamb was a tad overcooked and had lost its softness!

Turban Tales has too sections in their main course- Breaking Bread (gravies served with cute little rotis) and the Rice Section (Biryanis, khichadis, etc.)

The Angrezan Da Chicken Tikka and the Mummy Ki Dal are dishes you have to try from the gravies! No need to order separate rotis cos they come with some fresh and hot rotis of your choice!

The Meat Choul is a great take on the regular Lamb Biryani and is light yet aromatic and delicious!

Now, Indian desserts are something I like just as they are! No messing around with them! But that was until I tried this place!

The Jalebi Rabri, while maintaining its classic and brilliant essence adds a different texture with the nitro frozen Parle G biscuits and is a delight to have!

What you absolutely cannot miss is the Paan Ice Cream! Notches above the Paan flavored ice creams that are available at some places, this one is made from actual fresh ingredients of Paan and this dessert is truly a perfect end to a perfect meal here!

All in all, the younger generation of the illustrious family that has produced the iconic Mini Punjab, has managed to go above and beyond the comforts of Indian food and make it into an exciting and new change without changing the soul of it!

You must definitely try out this place and trust me, you will be hooked! Do reserve a table in advance cos there is always waiting! Always!

Until next time….
