The recent upsurge of good vegetarian restaurants in the city has got my wondering…Is being a vegetarian really that hard? Well, while I am confused about this, lets talk about the brilliant addition to the list of vegetarian places in the city – Rustico.
Rustico is a 2 storeyed restaurant located in Fort, Mumbai. While the rustic and charming interiors of the ground floor are great, the top section (where hookah is served) is very youngster/hippiesh and if you don’t like smoke and college crowd, avoid sitting in this section. On the other hand, if you are fond of Hookah and good music, this is the section for you!
I would like to start by saying that they serve one of the best Oreo Milkshake in the city. Creamy, perfectly sweet and fabulous. You absolutely have to try it!
The food options at Rustico are vast and of varied cuisines. The great part about the food here though is that inspite of the huge diversity in cuisines and flavors, they have managed to nail almost all the cuisines to near perfection and absolute deliciousness.
The Pav Bhaji Fondue is a great take on our Pav Bhaji and though the deliciousness is there, the Bhaji is creamy yet light which I loved!
The Open Cheese Roomali is perfect if you are in a big group and are looking for a munchy in the group.
The Funghi Bianca and the Chilli Pepper Paneer were my absolute favorite appetizers and you should definitely not miss these two dishes here.
The Chimichurri Nanza is a nice pesto flavored Indian (naan based) version of the Pizza and you should try it if you want to experiment with a good old pizza.
The one thing that I unexpectedly loved was the Nasi Goreng. Never thought I would like a vegetarian Nasi Goreng this much!
All in all, Rustico managed to impress me with its food and super efficient service and I would definitely recommend this place to all vegetarians and non vegetarians (when they are in the rare mood for vegetarian food :P).
Until next time….
